It was nicknamed "The San" by its clients. The sanitarium burned down in 1902. In the following year it was rebuilt as a larger structure. The San was the place for the rich to go for a health retreat and dieting. Cornflakes and a strict Vegetarian diet were reccommended with daily Enemas . Sex was frowned upon as was Masturbation .
