''Batman: Return of the Joker'' was the title of a video game released for the NES , Sega Mega Drive/Genesis , Super Nintendo and Gameboy by Sunsoft in 1991 . The game was a sequel to the ''Batman'' video game that was based on the 1989 film, but was closer in its format to comic book version of famed capped crusader.

Gameplay

Each version of the game was essentially the game in storyline and format, except the graphics on the NES version were some of the best graphics ever seen on the 8-bit home console system. The Joker has somehow escape from the insane asylum and he has brought along various supervillians from the comic book to send Gotham City into chaos. Batman had to survive five Side-scrolling levels with various tricky jumps to survive, enemies and supervillians to defeat to ensure that the City is safe.

Batman is armed with a utility belt that allows him collect various types of icons throughout the stages in order to shot various different types of boomerangs and projectives. The game's password feature also helped the game from becoming to difficult.

Trivia

If you input the password from the Gremlins game (NXRD) that will also take you to the final stage.
