He was succeeded by his eldest son Henry McLaren, and the latter by his eldest son Charles McLaren. In August 1939 , the future 3rd Baron was part of a secret delegation sent to Germany by Lord Halifax to offer Adolf Hitler concessions on the assurance that he would not invade Poland . The 3rd baron died on February 4 2003 and the title passed to his eldest son, Henry McLaren. The heir to the title is The Honourable Charles McLaren. The family seat is Bodnant Hall .
