The Village of Bainbridge is near the center of the Town Of Bainbridge at Routes 7 and 206. HISTORY The village was incorporated in 1821 . GEOGRAPHY Bainbridge is located at 42°17'41" North, 75°28'48" West (42.294803, -75.480089). According to the United States Census Bureau , the village has a total area of 3.4 Km&2 (1.3 Mi&2 ). 3.3 km&2 (1.3 mi&2) of it is land and 0.1 km&2 (0.04 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 3.03% water. The village is adjacent to the Susquehanna River and Interstate 88 . DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 1,365 people, 578 households, and 354 families residing in the village. The Population Density was 411.7/km&2 (1,064.3/mi&2). There were 650 housing units at an average density of 196.1/km&2 (506.8/mi&2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.17% White , 0.22% Black or African American , 0.00% Native American , 0.37% Asian , 0.15% Pacific Islander , 0.29% from Other Races , and 0.81% from two or more races. 1.17% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 578 households out of which 31.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.6% were Married Couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.6% were non-families. 32.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.35 and the average family size was 2.99. In the village the population was spread out with 26.4% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 26.2% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 15.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 94.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.3 males. The median income for a household in the village was $35,231, and the median income for a family was $40,962. Males had a median income of $28,583 versus $24,091 for females. The Per Capita Income for the village was $18,666. 12.0% of the population and 7.8% of families were below the Poverty Line . 15.2% of those under the age of 18 and 10.2% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
