Bad Azz (born '''Jamarr Antonio Stamps''', on November 27 , 1975 in Long Beach , California ) is a Rapper and former member of ''Tha Dogg Pound Gangsta Clique'', also known as ''DPGC'' (not to be confused with ''Tha Dogg Pound'' , a rap group solely comprised of Kurupt and Dat Nigga Daz , with brief cuts featuring Snoop Dogg ). He was also an original member of the ''LBC Crew'', along with fellow rappers Techniec and Lil C-Style. Although not worldly reknowned like some of his ''Dogg Pound'' counterparts, Bad remains a popular MC in his native Los Angeles , often heard on the radio stations KPWR and KKBT . Born in Hawaiian Gardens , a Long Beach commune, Bad grew up with his mother and stepfather, later moving to Long Beach where he attended high school, at Woodrow Wilson , before getting kicked out due to behavioral problems. It was around this time that Bad Azz met rapper Snoop Doggy Dogg (eventually changing his name to Snoop Dogg after leaving Death Row ) at Long Beach's V.I.P. Record Store . This meeting, gave Bad Azz new found respect for the rap game, and a view at a new possible career. He began freestyling on the eastside of Long Beach, and performing at various house jams. This move won him a place on Snoop's ''Doggystyle/Death Row'', a sub-label of the ''Death Row'' recording company, whereupon he briefly joined the '' L.B.C. Crew ''. He would later come back to make his solo album, titled, ''Word on tha Street'', under Priority Records , in 1998. Bad Azz is also known to consume excessive amounts of Cannabis . TRIVIA Bad Azz has reported ties to the Insane Crips of Long Beach, this is also made apparent with the heavy black apparel he generally likes to wear. After being expelled from Wilson High School , Bad Azz began the selling of Narcotic s, as a way of making money. He describes his experience as a drug dealer, not out of necessity but out of want: ''"...I didn't have to, to be honest, even when I lived with my stepfather, he had a little job, he kept a little rice in the cupboard, but that wasn't enough for me at the time you know, I had to have me a burger with some cheese on it."'' |
