The elections to the Austria n National Council of 1953 were the first elections after the KPÖ had left the coalition with the ÖVP and SPÖ in 1950 . The SPÖ leaped ahead of the ÖVP in votes, but the coalition between the two parties was continued under the Chancellorship of ÖVP politician Julius Raab , while Adolf Schärf of the SPÖ remained Vice Chancellor . | ||
