The 1st Brigade contains a significant proportion of the Army's regular units:
The brigade is capable of operating two Battlegroups , one formed around 1st Armoured Regiment (armour-heavy) and the other around 5/7 RAR (infantry heavy). As part of the Hardened and Networked Army initiative the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment and supporting units are to be mechanised and will transfer from the 3rd Brigade to the 1st Brigade in 2011. The 3 RAR battlegroup will be based in Adelaide . |
