Australia competed at the ''' 1984 Summer Olympics ''' in Los Angeles, California under the IOC Country Code AUS. It was the twentieth appearance of the nation, being one of only three nations (along with Greece and Great Britain ) to have competed in every Summer Olympics to that time. This included two times that Australia competed as part of a combined team with New Zealand . Australia was represented by a total number of 246 athletes.

In the fourth Olympic archery competition that Australia contested, the nation sent one woman and one man. Two-time veteran Terene Donovan improved her score from four years earlier by 99 points even as she fell ten places in the ranking.
