Australia competed as the host country at the ''' 1956 Summer Olympics ''' in Melbourne under the IOC Country Code AUS. It was the thirteenth time that the nation participated, being one of only four nations to have competed in every Summer Olympics to that time. This included two times that Australia was part of a combined team with New Zealand .
