Australia At The 1928 Summer Olympics




Australia competed at the ''' 1928 Summer Olympics ''' in Amsterdam , The Netherlands under the IOC Country Code AUS. It was the 8th appearance of the nation from Oceania, being one of only four nations to have competed in every Summer Olympics to that time. This included two times that Australia was part of a combined team with New Zealand . Due to economic difficulties, Australia could only afford to send 10 athletes to the games, as the estimated cost of funding was A$720 per athlete. However, other athletes were allowed to compete on the condition that they secure private or community funding. Eight athletes were funded in this way, including Dunc Gray . A total of 18 athletes represented Australia.
