Auburn is a , Victoria , Australia . It is located on the Lilydale , Belgrave , and Alamein lines, at Auburn and Victoria Roads in the Suburb of Hawthorn East . It is 7.7 Km from Flinders Street Station , the center of the city's Suburban Railway Network , and in Metcard ticketing Zone 1. Auburn is a Host Station , meaning that it is only staffed during weekday morning Peak Hour . The current station was constructed in 1916 , following the raising of the railway line over Auburn Road to remove a gradient which prevented a full length train from climbing into Camberwell . It is virtually identical to the neighbouring Glenferrie station built the same year to raise the line above Glenferrie Road. Both stations are listed on the Victorian Heritage Register . Auburn station serves as one of the main stations for nearby private schools, such as nearby Carey Baptist Grammar School . |
