These are Transmembrane Protein s where the amino terminal is cytosolic and the carboxyl terminal is exoplasmic. These proteins have a single internal hydrophobic signal-anchor sequence that serves both as the Endoplasmic Reticulum Signal Peptide and a Membrane-anchor Sequence . The signal-anchor sequence is recognised by a Signal Recognition Particle (SRP) and is forced into the appropriate translocon to continue translation of the protein. |
