The Arts Council of Ireland (''Chomhairle Ealaíon na hÉireann'' in Irish ) is a government funded body which promotes Art in the Republic Of Ireland . It was founded in 1951 , and is currently headed by Olive Braiden . It provides grants to artists, as well as funding arts-related events directly. It also funds the artists' organization Aosdána .
