Artists Paint for Peace is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1993 by Lynda Karanikolas (owner of Studio One Arts) and Karalyn Shimmyo. The organization provides free Murals to shelters, hospitals, high-needs and therapeutic schools, and other facilities that cannot afford the costs of facility beautification. In addition, their Art Mentor program provides multi-disciplinary workshops taught by artists, writers, and musicians throughout the New York Metro area. Notable Mural projects include the Pediatric Oncology/Hematology unit at Mount Sinai Hospital, Green Chimneys Children's Services, Camp Homeward Bound, Coalition For The Homeless (summer camp for homeless children) and My Sister's Place Domestic Violence Shelters . The organization is volunteer operated and provides free training and apprenticeship to its volunteer base. EXTERNAL LINK
