Dr. Argentina de las Mercedes Gomez Aleman (born May 20 , 1943 ) was the first female Optometrist in Nicaragua . Argentina M. Gomez Aleman was born in Managua , Nicaragua . She is the daughter of the late Luciano Gomez Mayorga, accountant, and the late Maria Isabel Aleman Mayorga, a Housewife . In 1968 , Argentina Gomez graduated from the Polytechnic College in Mexico , D.F. with a degree in Optometry making her the first female Optometrist in Nicaragua. In 1973 she married Stephen Marvin Hunter Silva of Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua and had three children: Michelle (1974), Stephen Laurence (1975), and Guiselle (1979). In 1983 , Argentina and family left Nicaragua during the Sandinista reign and fled to Miami , Florida , U. S. where they still reside. |
