  • www.samurize.com incorporated a Pink theme for their site, and changed the name from Samurize to '1337 Powerpuff Girls Meter Tool'.

  • www.Airliners.net incorporated a Pink theme for their front page. They had a message on the front page saying "With over 98% male users, Airliners.net needs to take major action to attract more female visitors. As a first step, we're changing the colors of the site to shades of pink. The whole site will soon be totally pink. Enjoy!"

  • fuckedgoogle.com the author of this notorious anti-google site claimed to have fallen in love with a google employee. the site was totally redesigned to show his love for google and his re-thinking of the whole "google is evil" thing.

  • Hedgehog World changed its theme to include ferrets instead of hedgehogs. It changed back around 11:00 PM EST.

  • Unicyclist Fourms changed to a pink theme. It changed back around 9:00EST.

Unexpected website behavior pranks


  • DevImg comments are filtered into an AOL-speak format.

  • Psypoke celebrated "Seizure Awareness Day". The background consisted of flashing colors. This was a parody of the Electric Soldier Porygon controversy.

  • Cartoon Network 's Adult Swim message board administrators changed the language filter from normal "

    --" to funny sayings like '

    --. However, they took it down within a couple hours. They renamed several members to 'Canada' and various other countries and cities. On the block they aired Chuck Norris Karate Kommandos instead of the scheduled Inuyasha.

  • All content on the Ordo Templi Orientis U.S. Grand Lodge site was modified to follow Thee Temple Ov Psychick Youth 's spelling conventions ("ov" rather than "of", for example).

  • Ephemeral has rankled the X-Files fanfic community, replacing their favorite characters in posted fanfic with burrowing animals.

  • OS News gave every member who logged in an upgrade to subscriber edition for free, saying that a "haxx0r" had hacked into the OS News servers.

  • Broadbandreports forums switched many members' avatars around.

  • 12 Noon Sports Forum made an announcement that the forum was under new management by a member named "Mr. L33T!!!" (who was really an Admin with a different display name) who only talked in Leetspeak . In addition, some of the sections had their names and descriptions translated into Leetspeak .

  • Albino Blacksheep 's front page linked to a Flash video supposedly representative of "one of the best animations in the Flash industry," which was instead a crudely animated, nonsensical video of stick figures and defecation.

  • Sitcoms Online changed the user rank of all of it's forum members plus it's moderators and administrators to "Banned", and changed the rank of it's banned users to "Administrator"

  • TDZK 's ship classes were changed to various types of fish, and several weapons were renamed to those of fishing tools, such as fileting knives, spears, and nets.

  • The main website of KO-Chan.org was changed to look like it was undergoing Japanese translation and looked as if it were being bought out by 2ch, followed by a front page that displayed a message from Interpol, stating that the website had been shut down due to the promotion of illegal immigration in Europe.

  • New Zealand Humor based forum loob.co.nz translated their entire site into Spanish. screenshot

  • Golem-Templates , Template web page switches their layout to display terrible web designs and stock photos no one would want.

  • East Coast Scanning Resources administrator, embj, planned a fake website hacking. The logo was changed to depict the character, Plankton, from the television series ''SpongeBob SquarePants'', the "Hosted by:" logo was changed from "ServerFAQs" to "server FAGS", the forum name was changed to "JOES PUBLIC ENTERTAIMENT network", and the so called "hacker" registered and made a post from the IP address of 0.0.0.0. Also, the forum permissions were changed to only display forums to the administrators; however, the other administrator, Joseph11, had his password changed so he could not access his account. The staff had no knowledge of this prank.

  • Mobius-X A Sonic The Hedgehog and Megaman fan-site, faked a hacker attack, in which the forum skin was changed and a Chuck Norris banner was added. The kicker though was the editing of the word filters to replace every vowel and other letters with "CHUCK NORRIS", so messages appeared like so: thCHUCK NORRISs CHUCK NORRISs stCHUCK NORRISpCHUCK NORRISd.

  • Jonny's Place A Sonic the Hedgehog fansite, was changed to a supposed archive of Hentai , but each image was actually a popular 4chan meme known as "Cock Mongler." The forums also saw changes; word filters caused words such as "Sonic" and "Mario" to become switched, and the only available emoticon was a Photoshopped image of the face of one of the administrators.

  • Malespank A male/male spanking story archive changed the male pronouns in all 8300 stories into female.

  • MetalMachineMusic A Zoids RPG website replaced their homepage with a notice supposedly from Block9 saying that Hasbro had complained to them about the content of the site and it was going to be taken down in 48 hours. Also, some members of the forums had their Avatars changed to one of something similar to a running Llama, in different attire.

  • Dogasu's Backpack A Pokemon web site that compares American and Japanese version of "Pocket Monster" with 4Kids's edited version did a fake version of 4Kids only edit for "Mean With Evy" that replaced Glalie for a trainer's Jynx .

  • ConsoleCity.com announced that a merger had taken place between Sega parent company Sammy and Capcom, forming a new company called Segacom, which was to launch a new console in 2008.

  • Weblognews.nl announced to pay Bloggers for their posts if they placed an iframe-banner on their site. Many signed up, only to see the banner on their own site change to "Wooot! you're pwned by Ochblog !" on April first.

  • SaysDave reported on the new defense teleportation system.

  • Ctrl-click , a technology news site, announced that a takeover by Macrumors.com has been completed.

  • The Thudgame Discworld Boardgame site announced that they had been acquired by Google and released a Google-ised beta version of the new Thud client to celebrate the "event"!

  • Capitalex.com announced that PayPal has acquired e-gold!

  • Google Community announced that they were acquired by Yahoo!

  • HaikuNews has a story of two developers working on a haiku port to a palm handheld and a cellphone. This article also claims that haiku is forking to use the linux kernel.

  • Yahoo has an "SM News" breaking story about a new "No Talking" law on New York City Subways - Yahoo.com (''Note: is a Sierra Mist ad that does not redirect, but plays a video in page'')

  • Gorillaz-Unofficial , a Livejournal-based fansite dedicated to animated supergroup Gorillaz , posts a fictitious newspaper article claiming 2-D's ex-girlfriend and Gorillaz ex-guitarist Paula will be rejoining the band on their upcoming world tour and releasing a solo album including the single "Baby To Me You're Nothing But A Dick And A Wallet (So Why Don't You Love Me No More?)." The article is supposedly taken from Musicmatch Magazine, which does not actually exist, and site moderator 2-J later confessed that a "talented graphics artist" was responsible for the prank.

  • Cosplay.com Front page had an image of a lumberjack stating that the site had been "Lumberjaxxed." Upon clicking the image, you were taken to the forums which had a picture of Paul Bunyan and his blue Ox. Many of the forum titles were changed and words were automatically replaced, such as "anime" to "japanimation."

  • MacGenealogy.org announces Apple entering the genealogy business and releasing "iRoots" and "iRoots Pro" genealogy applications in early 2007.

  • MagicTheGathering.com provided viewers with "live coverage" of a "Global Prix", a fake event that anyone in the world who played on April 1 was automatically entered in. Updates throughout the day gave "standings" which had the names of many professional players, generally from one continent only. Also, profiles with "famous" players were released, among them BYE, who had appeared at every event in history and had never won a match before shocking the world by going 5-3 in the Global Prix. (This was a parody on the Magic Swiss-style tournament seedings, where players not matched up would get a bye and an automatic win; this is represented in records as the match "Player vs. BYE".)

Skoo (the writer of the article) declared on the forum that it was just a joke, and in fact, Weebl's last words to him were "If I get hit by a car, I'm blaming you"
