The Appalachian League began in 1911 , with six teams in North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. The league folded in 1914 . It was reformed in 1921 , but closed and re-opened several times before becoming established in 1957 . The league is divided into an '''East Division''' and a '''West Division'''.
