ORIGINAL CONTINUITY See Also: Captain Apollo In the original Battlestar Galactica (1978) , Captain Apollo is played by actor Richard Hatch . Apollo is the son of Commander Adama & Ila. Apollo's mother, Ila, was killed in The Destruction Of The Twelve Colonies . (Ila's picture as seen in the series is actually a photo of Sophia Loren .) Apollo had a younger brother Zak who was killed while trying to alert the Colonial Fleet to an impending attack by the Cylons. He also has a sister, Athena, who is a bridge officer on the Galactica. Ever since the original series aired, Richard Hatch has repeatedly tried to make a continuation of the original series, in which Apollo is now Commander of the Galactica. NEW CONTINUITY See Also: Lee Adama In the current incarnation, Battlestar Galactica (2003) , Apollo is no longer the character's name but rather his call sign (although Laura Roslin calls him 'Captain Apollo' anyway).
