Anna Boch




Anna Rosalie Boch ( 10 February 184825 February 1936 ) was a Belgian Painter , born in Saint-Vaast , Hainaut .

She participated in the Neo-impressionist movement. A pupil of Isidore Verheyden , she was influenced by Théo Van Rysselberghe whom she met in the Groupe Des XX .

Besides her own paintings Anna Boch had one of the most important collection of impressionst paintings of it's time. She promoted young artists. One of them was Vincent_van_Gogh
whom she admired for his talent and who was a friend of her brother Eugen Boch .
In fact the Vigne Rouge was the only painting Van Gogh had sold during his lifetime.

Anna Boch died in Brussels in 1936 and is interred there in the Ixelles Cemetery .
The Anna Boch collection was sold after her death, in her will she had given the money
to pay retirement of poor artist friends.

The royal Museum of Mariemont with Morlanwelz, from October at December 2000, paid homage to Anna Boch by organizing a retrospective exposure.
