Information About

Animal Crossing Community

:Animal Crossing Community, (Also known as ACC) is a website devoted to . The website, created and run by jader201 and hoggle, plus the mods and scouts of the website, consists of many programs that differ it from other Animal Crossing-related websites. Special features consist of:
  • A "Trading Post" for the AC trading feature

  • A "Pattern Maker" to share patterns on your AC and AC:WW games over the web

  • A "Town Tunes" section to add town tunes you have made in your games.

  • A "My Towns" section to show the towns (AC and AC:WW)

  • A "My Catalog" section to show what each of the users AC and AC:WW game charactors has in their invetory.

  • Guides helping players with Animal Crossing and Animal Crossing: Wild World

  • AC:WW "Friend Code" trading as well as for other Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection games

:ACC is devoted to be a family friendly website, and did allow more freedom to the user until the server shortage in 2003 - 2004. At that time, "mass PTs" and RPG-related threads were not allowed to be posted on the forums anymore.

:At this time, the site is having difficulties with the bandwidth due to the release of AC:WW and the large amount of traffic. See below in the history to see the temporary solution to the problem.

TRADING POST

:On ACC, the trading post lets you give items from your AC game in return (usually) for another item. ACC features a trading section on the forums. To begin, you must talk to Tom Nook (The owner of the local store in Animal Crossing) and go to "Other Things", then say "Get Code". He will then ask you the town name and the person's name you want to trade this item with, plus the item you want to give to this person. Then he will give you a code with a key above it; copy this down. Then set up a trade with someone. To trade, you must follow two steps.

Step One

:In step one, you must choose the user and the items you want to give and give back to that user you want to trade with. To set up a trade with a user, you must click the Trading Post link in the toolbar on the left of the window. On the top of that page, click "Make a Trade" text and you will appear on that page. (Amazing, isn't it?) Through that page, you can search for people or you can find someone yourself. An easier way to do this is to click on the green arrow icon on the top-right corner of the user's post to set up a trade automatically with that person. Then you must choose the items you want to trade with that user. Now you need to click on the "Go to {Link without Title} Catalog" button or the "Go to my Catalog" at the bottom of this page. At the bottom of the new page, you will see a few categories to choose from. These categories will consist of; Furniture, wallpaper, carpet, clothing, items, stationery, gyroids, fossils, music, fruit, insects, fish, miscellaneous and E-Cards. Click on one of these categories and click the button next to the item that you want to give/receive. When you click the "Update my Items" button, you will be brought to a new page, where you can either:
  • Propose Trade, where you can "Counter Offer" or "Submit Trade". If you counter-offer, you can add/remove items to your/their trading list, and in submit trade, you cannot edit anything.

  • or...

  • Update items if you forgot any

Step Two

:Now you should be brought to the trade page, where all the progress in the trade is recorded. You can post messages at the bottom here, and also can post the codes for you items in the slots given by the items you are trading. When you have submitted your codes into the textbox, click "Submit Codes" below the textbox where you post you messages in. When you and your "tradee" have finished submitting all your codes, you can post feedback about what you felt about this trade. (Positive, Neutral, Negative) This is shown in the users posts.

PATTERN MAKER, TOWN TUNES, AND FRIEND CODES

Pattern Maker

:The Pattern Maker on ACC is very old and famous. Powered by Flash, this program is used by every member of ACC. There is also a board based on patterns. To open the Pattern Maker, open the Pattern section on "My ACC" in the toolbar, and either click on the icon that says, "Pattern Maker" on the page, or you can click on "Create a Pattern" under the Patterns section on the AC Community section of the toolbar. Below that is a link that says, "Pattern Voting", where you can vote on random patterns that can pop up. If a pattern is good enough, it can get into the Top Ten Patterns, which is located to the right of the main section of the page. Please, it is requested that you do give all the patterns you vote on 1s or 10s, it is fair for the user who created that pattern.

Town Tunes

:The Town Tunes section of ACC can be found under the ACC Toolbar in the AC Community section where the text says, "Town Tunes". This is not as popular as the ACC Pattern Maker, but is still popular. Use this to post tunes you have or take others to use on your game. To create a Town Tune, you need to click on the icon, under the search box, that says "Create-A-Tune". It will bring you to a page where you can put your tune in.

Friend Codes

:The Friend Code feature on ACC is made for AC:WW. To begin a trade of friend codes, you must get your friend code of your AC:WW game. To do this, you must find a WIFI router to connect to and talk to Copper, the dog at the Town Gate. When you say "Friend Codes!", he will give you a number in which you copy and submit into your Friend Codes page on ACC. Then you can click on the DS icon on the top right corner of a user's post to trade friend codes, or you can put their username in the textbox on your Friend Code page.

MY TOWNS AND MY CHARACTERS

My Towns

:Created in around June 2004, this is used to record your town’s characteristics and happenings.
  • means it's native).

My Characters

:This is to store your AC or AC:WW characters and their info.
This page includes info on a character and his/her house and shows where he/she came from, the gender, a picture of him/her, the amount of money he has, the amount of money he/she needs to pay off to Nook, the size of his/her house, his HRA score, the location of his house, and the amount of items he/she has based on the catalog.

OTHER FEATURES

:ACC contains many other things other than the features above. Here are some.

Buddy List

:Much like your buddy list in say, AOL Instant Messager, ACC features a buddy list that shows you which of your friends is online. A green light is shown for active users, buddies with yellow lights are idle. Ordinary members can have 101 buddies at a time. Members who donate $10 are allowed 200, and those who donate at least $20 can have an unlimited buddy cap.

Avatars

:In the beginning of ACC, there were no avatars. Soon, though, avatars were added. These consisted (and still do) of two groups; Custom and landscape. Custom avatars are AC characters centered onto an avatar with a colored background: Landscape avatars are characters standing on an AC landscape. Around 2003 - 2004, the AC islander avatars were added. Then on February 22nd of 2006, AC:WW avatars were added, with new AC:WW Custom and Landscape, which work just like the originals, but with AC:WW characters.

History

Animal Crossing Community began as an idea around 2002 by an IGN user Jader201. He posted on the IGN forums asking for someone to help him out, and Hoggle agreed to help. For a while, they were working on the website as seen today. Jader201 worked with the coding along with another admin, and Hoggle worked with graphics. The company Hoggle had worked for hosted servers for free, so the website was supported and kept up, until February 19th 2006, when the company had to move the servers somewhere else. On February 22nd, though, new hosting was found. A user named Divisor in the July of 2003 also created the "femotes" of ACC. Later that year, Hoggle also added some new AC islanders to the avatars.

In 2006, some major changes were made to the site. Due to site growth, load times became increasingly slow. This was resolved through commercial hosting. To pay for it, the web site introduced Google and Amazon Advertisements . Also designed was a Subscription plan that gave members the option of donating money, but put heavy restrictions on those who did not. Because of its heavy criticism, the subscription plan was cancelled, and the site began to accept donations again.
