He was born and raised in Auckland to an Indo-Fijian family, attending the University Of Auckland where he received a Bachelor Of Laws in 1970 . He worked as a lawyer for the next 12 years, including a time at the Crown Solicitors Office . In 1982 , he was appointed a District Court judge. Then in 1995 , he was appointed an Ombudsman and served two five-year terms. He is married with three children. REFERENCES
