To the west it connects to Schiphol . To the east it connects to Duivendrecht . The is a new connection, about to be opened in March 2006. It is an arc connecting two existing lines; the arc is located between the stations Amsterdam -Rai and Bijlmer . The new train services do not stop at these two stations, but provide a connection from Schiphol and Amsterdam Zuid WTC at the Zuidas area (the southern axis of Amsterdam) directly with Utrecht , and on to Eindhoven . It surpasses the crossing at Duivendrecht , making it unnecessary to change trains as well as providing a faster connection. In future the station may be served by some trains of the HSL-Zuid and HSL-Oost . The station is served by two Amsterdam Metro lines, and is Terminal Station of the North/South Line (Amsterdam Metro) being constructed. |
