Information About

American Anglican Council

BELIEFS

The American Anglican Council is a conservative organisation. They support changes in the Episcopal Church In The United States , particularly in regard to the Episcopal Church's views on homosexuality. In public statements, the AAC presents their goal as reforming ECUSA , though a leaked strategy memo (dated December 28, 2003) written by the Rev. Geoff Chapman for the AAC suggests that their ultimate goal is a "realignment" of Anglicanism in which ECUSA would be expelled from the Anglican Communion and the AAC would form the nucleus of a replacement Anglican jurisdiction in the U.S. The AAC has close ties and for many years shared an office with the Institute On Religion And Democracy , a right-wing organization seeking to influence U.S. domestic and foreign policy and reform American mainline Christian denominations to bring them into closer conformity with their conservative political and religious views.
