Ali al-Adib, a prominent Shia Iraqi politician, is a member of the Da'wa al-Islamiyah political party in Iraq. al-Adib was born in 1946 in the central Iraqi city of Kerbala, he attended primary education at a local elementary school and received his secondary education in Baghdad, although enrolling in agricultural college, he was unable to complete his course because of his involvement with anti-government groups. In 1981 during the Iran-Iraq war he left Iraq for exile in Britain, where lived until "operation Iraqi freedom" removed the baathist party from power. Mr. al-Adib is known to be a staunch advocate of Islamic law and the "Islamisation of society", he has written a book "Shariah Islamiya wa haq fi Al-Iraq", "Islamic law and justice in Iraq", which outline his views. He is a potential candidate for the premier position in Iraq's first post-invasion government. |
