LIFE AND CAREER Alexis Hunter was born in Epsom, Auckland , one of twins. Her parents had emigrated from Sydney in 1947. She was raised in Titirangi in the Waitakere Ranges in Auckland . In 1969 she graduated from Elam School Of Fine Art , and in 1970 lived in a commune in Sydney. In 1972 she moved to London, worked in film animation and was a member of the Women's Workshop Of The Artists Union (1972–75). In 1978 her photographic exhbition ''Approaches to Fear'' was staged by and England , 1994), ''Women Beyond Borders'' ( Rivington Gallery , London, 2000), and ''Technomyths'' (Whitespace Gallery, Newmarket, Auckland, New Zealand, 2002).
