Alex Blagg (b. July 1, 1980) is an American writer, Comedian , and Blogger .

Blagg, a native of Memphis , graduated from Briarcrest Christian School in 1998. He spent a year at The University Of Mississippi before returning to Memphis to study film. After spending the next few years in Memphis worked odd jobs, having an uncredited role as a waiter in the movie 21 Grams , and graduating with a degree in communications from The University Of Memphis , Blagg moved to San Francisco , where he wrote brochures for a Bay Area marketing company.

Blagg would catch his break after starting BlaggBlogg, an irreverent and witty weblog about politics and pop culture. In the early days of BlaggBlogg, Blagg focused on The 2004 Presidential Election. His audience consisted primarily of friends from Memphis and Ole Miss , as well as readers from The Snyder News Network , a Mississippi-based website Blagg had written for around the turn of the century. When Blagg began to focus on pop culture, and particularly hipster culture, his popularity began to skyrocket.

He was named Best Comedian in the 2005 SF Weekly Reader Poll.

He has performed at comedy clubs and colleges across the country, alongside national headliners like Zach Galifianakis and Judah Friedlander . He is a regular contributor to ComedyCentral.com, CRACKED Magazine, The Phat Phree and more.

He was recently hired as a writer and blogger for VH1 's Best Week Ever . He now lives in New York.


TRIVIA

  • Blagg claims his conception was a result of a vacation his parents took to Club Med Mexico. His parents, Blagg says, were able to fund the vacation with prize money they won on an episode of The Family Feud . {Link without Title}
