GEOGRAPHY Alcester is located at 43°1'23" North, 96°37'50" West (43.023041, -96.630451). According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 0.9 Km&2 (0.3 Mi&2 ). 0.9 km&2 (0.3 mi&2) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water. Alcester has been assigned the ZIP Code 57001, and the FIPS Place Code 00700. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000 , there were 880 people, 388 households, and 233 families residing in the city. The Population Density was 999.3/km&2 (2,590.8/mi&2). There were 430 housing units at an average density of 488.3/km&2 (1,266.0/mi&2). The racial makeup of the city was 98.41% White , 0.00% African American , 0.23% Native American , 0.91% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.00% from Other Races , and 0.45% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
