Albert Cabell Ritchie ( August 29 , 1876 - February 24 , 1936 ), a member of the United States Democratic Party , was the 49th Governor Of Maryland in the United States from 1920 to 1935 . Born in 1876 in Richmond, Virginia , he campaigned for, but did not win, the Democratic Presidential nomination in both 1924 and 1932 . He died in 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland . Governor Ritchie Highway (Maryland Route 2 through Anne Arundel County) is named in honor of him. |
