For other people with this name, see Alan Barnes (disambiguation) Alan Barnes, 17, was reported missing from Adelaide in South Australia in June of 1979 . A week later his body was found on the banks of the South Para Reservoir , northeast of Adelaide . He had been dead only about a day. Alan had been horribly tortured while he was still alive, and he bled to death. Bevan Spencer Von Einem , an Accountant , is the prime suspect in Alan's murder and the murder of Peter Stogneff. Von Einem was convicted of the murders of Richard Kelvin and two other youths, and was charged with Alan's murder afterwards, but the charges were dropped because of insufficient or inadmissible evidence. Von Einem is currently serving life in prison for the other murders. Alan's case remains, as of April 2004, officially unsolved. |
