Information About

Agent Bishop

Agent Bishop is a man with a shadowy past and nebulous intent. He first appears in season three of the series. Bishop embarked on an Eugenic scheme to create super-soldiers using both his own DNA and Splinter 's.

Disliking both the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Shredder , at first he is a peripheral character, but becomes a major threat by the final episodes of the third season. Due to his fast recovery from getting a meathook slammed to his back during a struggle, many viewers think he may not be human.

One of Bishop's clones escaped from the lab during the fight with the Turtles and has since found an underground existence as the Rat King .

Bishop made a deal with the Federation, if he delivers them Honeycutt, all aliens leave Earth alone. His troops were also supplied with high-tech weapons to capture the Fugitoid. Bishop then extracted DNA from the Turtles and prepared to create the Slayer.

Bishop leads a top-secret branch of the U.S. military known as the Earth Protection Force (EPF), formed during the presidency of Ulysses S. Grant. Bishop, or his lookalike great-grandfather, witnessed Grant's signature on a treaty to found an agency to monitor extraterrestrial activity on earth. (Another photograph taken during the same era shows Bishop or a look-alike standing next to a downed UFO) Viewers suspect Bishop may well be over two hundred years old in addition to not being a man. Bishop has been shown to manipulate the modern president, suggesting that he might have also urged Grant into establishing the EPF. Bishop relies heavily on the EPF genetics program to keep his body from "decomposing," which explains part of his desperation to maintain funding for the EPF.

Bishop is now partnered with Dr. Baxter Stockman , Shredder 's former science officer and, thanks to Shredder, a grotesque disembodied freak of nature; this promises to be a very fruitful friendship in season four.

Agent Bishop is an excellent hand-to-hand combatant, having held his own against all four Turtles on numerous occasions. He also has access to a variety of experimental technology and dozens of specialists who seem to follow his every command. With the vast resources of the US government behind him, Bishop is a formidable opponent for the Turtles, perhaps even on the same level as the original Shredder.

SEASON 4

In Season 4, Bishop appeared when a secret project escaped. During the course of the episode, the project was revealed to once be human and Bishop was his best man. Little is known about how and why the man was transformed into a monster.

Bishop's next project was to use a group of genetically altered alien clones to create a mock invasion to increase funding for the EPF. The aliens were easily dispensed, their genetic material then drained into the sewers.

In his next appearance, Bishop's origins were explained. A soldier during the American Civil War , he was abducted by the Greys who experimented on him. He somehow survived on Clone Bodies and wishes to not let what happened to him happen to the rest of humanity. Meanwhile the genetic material mutated creatures in the sewers not unlike the Ooze did to the turtles. Baxter Stockman created a new body for Bishop that was stronger than his previous one that melted on transfer to his new body. Stockman commented that Bishop had a unique genetic make-up which made the transfer easy. It can be assumed the aliens may be responsible for this.

With the fiasco of the alien DNA mutating the creatures in the sewers, Bishop sent Stockman out in the field to gather data and figure out to repair the damage done. However, Stockman at some point disappeared, only to be later retreived by Bishop. Bishop coolly tells him that it's only because his brilliant mind is required. Apparently even Bishop has had his patience tested by Stockman's personality.

Recently, Bishop was contacted by a mysterious entity, who has some knowledge of his past and current activity. It advised him that the Foot had access to technology which he would find useful. When the Turtles broke into Area 51, to force him into helping the ailing Donatello, he made a deal with them instead, that in exchange for their retrieving something from the Foot, he would turn over the cure.

The Turtles had to retrieve an amulet from Shredder's (who is now Karai) base, and when they did, the Turtles cured Donatello and fleed from the base.

On the penultimate episode of season 4, Bishop was most recently seen. Stockman had put the amulet in a machine and prepared to do something, but it blew up and the mysterious entity laughed, telling Bishop and Stockman it was all a trick.

At the end of the episode, the mysterious figure turned out to be the Mystic Water Ninja, who, along with Metal, Earth, Fire, and Wind, broke out of their ninja-style shells and revealed to be something somewhat like gods.
