is an independently-owned amusement park in Altoona, Iowa (just outside of Des Moines ). It features over 100 rides, shows and attractions.
Adventureland opened in late August 1974 with its first full season in 1975. Jack Krantz, founder of Adventureland, died in January 2006 at age 76.
Adventureland is located off exit 142A of I-80 , along U.S. Highway 65 , near Altoona, just East of Des Moines.
Much like Disneyland , Adventureland is divided into several different themed areas. Upon entering the park, visitors reach , an area resembling a stereotypical turn-of-the-20th-century town square. The principal attraction of this area is the A-Train, a locomotive which winds around the park.
The second themed area is , a rural-themed area whose principal attraction is "The Tornado", a large wooden roller coaster. '''Iowa Farm''' follows a similar theme.
The third area is , built in 1991 when the Dragon roller coaster was opened.
, constructed in 1993, has an Old West theme, complete with a "ghost town" and "cowboys". The main attraction of this part of the park is "The Outlaw", a large wooden roller coaster.
is built around the "Space Shot" ride. However, the major attraction is now "The Underground", a newly-constructed ride which incorporates elements of both a Dark Ride and a roller coaster.
is a German-themed area. With the closing of the "Sky Ride", there are no major attractions left in this area of the park.
is built around the "Raging River" ride.
has several major rides, but the biggest is the "Giant Skywheel", the largest Ferris Wheel built in the United States since the 1800s.

- The Raging River (opened in 1983) - A whitewater river-raft ride featuring rapids, waterfalls, and geysers.
- Saw Mill Splash (opened in 2002) - Spins visitors down a hill in a large raft and splashes down at the bottom.
- The Splash Over (opened April 29th, 2006) - A thrill/water ride where riders are propelled and inverted through a curtain of water that randomly ranges from a light mist to a complete soaking.
- River Rapids Log Flume (opened in 1974) - a log flume ride with two drops.
- A-Train - A small train that loops around part of the park.
- Balloon Race (opened 1980's) - a Zamperla family ride which spins riders in balloon-shaped cars.
- Dodge'em Cars (opened 1970's) - Traditional bumper-cars ride.
- Falling Star (opened 1980's?) - Chance-Morgan ride which drops riders via a large 360-degree pendulum.
- Der Flinger (opened 1976) - A Paratrooper -themed ride which is similar to a Ferris Wheel but starts flat on the ground and raises up.
- Galleon (opened early 1980's) - A giant swinging ship ride.
- Giant Skywheel - A huge Ferris Wheel .

- Lady Luck (opened in 1975) - A Chance Trabant ride, themed as a roulette wheel.
- Sidewinder (opened in 2004)
- Silly Silo (opened in 1974) - A Chance-Morgan Rotor: Spins guests around in a large cylinder as they become stuck to the walls while the floor drops out.
- Sky Ride (opened in 1975, originally from World's Fair in Spokane, Washington).
- Space Shot (opened in 1999) - Visitors blast off into "space" and freefall safely back to the ground.
- Tea Cups (opened in 1976) - A traditional spinning tea cup ride.
- The G-Force (opened in 1997) - A spinning ride on the order of a Scrambler.
- The Inverter (opened in 2000) - (by Chance-Morgan ) Takes guests up 50 feet in the air and hangs them inverted.
- The Mixer (opened in 1997) - Spins and inverts visitors on several axis.
- Tilt o Whirl (opened in 1975)
- Town Square Carousel (opened in 2000) - A replica of an antique Carousel .
- The Lighthouse (opened 1970's) - Visitors sit in a small gondola which spins around, while being thrust sideways and upwards.
- Ben Ulin magic show, 2006 will be his 19th year.
- Royal Hanneford Circus.
- Soda and Sounds music shows.
- Aquatheatre. The Underground built in its place.
