Adventure Thru Inner Space, presented by Monsanto , was an attraction in Disneyland 's Tomorrowland , using Disney's Omnimover . It opened on August 5 , 1967 as part of the New Tomorrowland, and closed in 1985 to make way for Disney and George Lucas 's new Star Tours attraction, which opened in early 1987 . The attraction was narrated by Paul Frees , who also lent his voice to the Haunted Mansion attraction, another Omnimover attraction which is still open to this day. The greet and exit song is "Miracles From Molecules" written by Robert B. Sherman & Richard M. Sherman . SYNOPSIS The ride is narrated by a scientist, who is traveling with the ride vehicle. Guests are taken through the Mighty Microscope, which appears to shrink the guests. The riders see larger and larger snowflakes. The rider enters into a snowflake to see its Molecular structure. Riders continue to appear to shrink, and the ride vehicles enter an atom. Inside the atom, with electrons surrounding them, the riders see a glowing ball, the Nucleus of the atom. At that point, the narrator decides that he does not dare enter the nucleus, and the rider begins growing again: molecules, then ice crystals, become visible again. The visitor sees a gigantic human eye staring down at the vehicle through the microscope. The ride ends when the vehicle has returned to normal size. " MIRACLES FROM MOLECULES " Like many of the WED attractions of the 1960s including " It's A Small World ", the Carousel Of Progress and the Enchanted Tiki Room , Walt Disney assigned his staff songwriters, the Sherman Brothers , the task of writing an opening and closing song for the "Adventure Thru Inner Space" attraction. That song was "Miracles from Molecules" and bridged the ride message of adventure with the Monsanto company's mission statement. TRIVIA
