Act Of Uniformity 1549

The Act was highly controversial and only just passed into law, with the House Of Lords voting 10 to 8 for the Act. Hostility to this Act and to the new prayer book led to rioting in some areas of the country, particularly in the South West. In 1552 a new Act of Uniformity was passed introducing the revised Book Of Common Prayer
