is a
Constituency of the
House Of Commons of the
Parliament Of The United Kingdom . It elects one
Member Of Parliament (MP) by the
First Past The Post system of election.
The constituency covers the south of the
City Of Aberdeen council area, with wards taken from its predecessor seat and elements from the abolished
Aberdeen Central . A great swathe of working class Aberdeenshire (
Torry and
Kincorth ) was placed in this seat during the 1990s changes as well the more rural western elements of the seats including middle-class suburbs such as
Cults and
Peterculter .
The constituency was formed by the
Redistribution Of Seats Act 1885 , when the
Aberdeen constituency was split in two. Since then Aberdeen has always been represented with at least two constituencies. This new seat stretches to the west of the city, with approximately 18km from west-to-east.
