Aberdeen South is a Constituency of the House Of Commons of the Parliament Of The United Kingdom . It elects one Member Of Parliament (MP) by the First Past The Post system of election.


BOUNDARIES

The constituency covers the south of the City Of Aberdeen council area, with wards taken from its predecessor seat and elements from the abolished Aberdeen Central . A great swathe of working class Aberdeenshire ( Torry and Kincorth ) was placed in this seat during the 1990s changes as well the more rural western elements of the seats including middle-class suburbs such as Cults and Peterculter .


HISTORY


The constituency was formed by the Redistribution Of Seats Act 1885 , when the Aberdeen constituency was split in two. Since then Aberdeen has always been represented with at least two constituencies. This new seat stretches to the west of the city, with approximately 18km from west-to-east.
