This is about the video game Zoo Tycoon. For other uses of the term zoo, see Zoo (disambiguation) .

Zoo Tycoon is a Simulation Computer Game developed by Blue Fang Games and released by Microsoft Game Studios . It is an example of a "Tycoon game", in which the player must run a business (in this case a zoo) and try to make a profit.

OVERVIEW

When you first start a new freeform game, you see an open zoo, ready for development. First, the player must create exhibits for animals to live in. After your exhibits are created, guests will start attending your view. Eventually, you will be able to put in guest facilities and expand your zoo. The ultimate goal of Zoo Tycoon is to become a "Zoo Tycoon". The freeform allows you to create a zoo to your exact specifications, with the exception of money, but you can obtain free cheats online to get more cash. However, you can also play scenario zoos, in which you must achieve a goal. These goals usually involve attaining an adequate zoo rating, guest happiness, animal happiness, exhibit suitability, number of animals, or it involves the breeding of animals.

SUCCESS AND EXPANSION

Zoo Tycoon was created in the image of the 1999 Hasbro Interactive game RollerCoaster Tycoon , which sold well for many years. Zoo Tycoon was not as successful as '' Roller Coaster Tycoon '' and '' Theme Park World '', but it did well enough for Microsoft and Blue Fang Games to release two expansion packs, ''Dinosaur Digs'' which added dinosaur animals as well as prehistoric ones, and ''Marine Mania'' which added aquatic functionality.

Eventually, Microsoft bundled the expansion packs with Zoo Tycoon to create Zoo Tycoon Complete Collection which had the functionality of both expansion packs and bonus content. This new edition, gained sufficient profit for Microsoft to release yet another version: Zoo Tycoon 2 . This was created after Zoo Empire came out, which made Microsoft's Zoo Tycoon out date. Zoo Tycoon 2 has significantly better graphics, although the animal choices are more limited.
