Yayap is a . Yayap’s goal is life is to find peace. He is quite a bit cowardly, like most grunts. Yayap’s story begins on the Pillar of Autumn, a reluctant squad leader on one of the covenant boarding parties. Yayap is very careful to steer his squad well away from combat, so as to avoid any danger. When Yayap and his squad enter a room which has already seen some carnage they find their ticket out of there. One of the elites on the ground suffered a severe head wound yet managed to barely survive. Yayap orders his squad to carry the elite (and themselves) back to safety. This was the beginning of the end for Yayap. The elite (named Zuka ‘Zamamee) managed to make a full recovery from his head wound. ‘Zamamee was so grateful for his rescue that he appointed Yayap to be his personal assistant. To make matters worse Zuka ‘Zamamee also sought revenge from the human who gave him that wound; the "demon" Master Chief . Yayap was now forced to follow Zuka ‘Zamamee on his suicidal attempts to kill Master Chief, each time they barely come back alive. Yayap will not stand for this, however; on a daring attempt to kill the demon, the pair take a small force and attack the human base on Halo, but the pair soon discovers Master Chief is not present. ‘Zamamee and Yayap take a banshee in attempt to find Master Chief when Yayap does the unthinkable. The grunt points his pistol at the elite’s head and orders ‘Zamamee to bring him to the safe base at the Pillar of Autumn crash site. Normally for a grunt to even consider such an act would be considered treason, but ‘Zamamee is still grateful for his rescue and saw Yayap as his closest friend. ‘Zamamee granted Yayap his safety at the Pillar of Autumn. That was Yayap’s second mistake. Much to ‘Zamamee’s delight and Yayap’s misery, the pair soon discover that Master Chief is on his way to the Pillar of Autumn crash site. ‘Zamamee immediately begins making preparations for the demon’s arrival, while Yayap begins preparing for his own demise. Once Master Chief begins his one-man assault on the Pillar of Autumn, Yayap quickly realizes that Master Chief cannot be stopped. Rather then spend his last few moments miserable, Yayap steals a ghost in all the commotion and takes it to a grassy knoll over-looking the Pillar of Autumn. Once he realizes Master Chief’s intentions Yayap now knows he has no chance to survive. There he sits, over-looking the wrecked Pillar of Autumn awaiting his own death. At this point all of Yayap’s troubles seem to melt away and for his last few moments, Yayap finds the peace he is looking for. |
