In the fictional Stargate universe, the Wraith Dart is a small, fast, one-man space vessel used by the Wraith usually for culling. The Wraith Dart has roughly the size of a Puddle Jumper and thus they have the ability to fit through a Stargate . Also, like the Jumper, have their own Dial-Home Device (DHD) to dial the nearest Stargate. A Wraith soldier pilots the Dart using a giant HUD projected on the roof of the cockpit (the cockpit is otherwise opaque). The Darts are responsible for culling humans using an energy transporter beam that sweeps the ground; anything inside the sweep is dematerialized and brought onto the ship. They are stored in an energy form, due to size constraints in the Dart. The Dart is also capable of using the culling beam to transport Wraith soldiers to the ground. This was used to overwhelm the anti-air weapons of Atlantis in " The Siege (Part 3) " and to scan an area, presumably for life forms to be transported aboard. Darts also come equipped with a self-destruct, and can be equipped for deep-penetration reconnaissance missions as seen in " The Brotherhood ". In the event that the Dart's Hive-Ship is destroyed, the Dart will make a kamikaze run. Wraith Darts also possess energy weapons that fire in short bursts, similar to bullet rounds, but much more powerful. A head on, direct hit with a burst from the Dart's energy weapons is capable of destroying a Puddle Jumper instantly. Vice versa, the Puddle Jumpers can shoot down a Dart with a single drone. They do not possess the drones weapon systems of a Puddle Jumper which home in on a target and detonate. Darts become automated upon approaching a Hive-Ship, rather like Puddle Jumpers do approaching Atlantis or a Stargate to allow for smooth docking. |
