West Wildwood is a Walsh Act Borough located in Cape May County , New Jersey . As of the United States 2000 Census , the borough had a total population of 448. HISTORY AND CULTURE West Wildwood is a small vacationing city packed with hotels, marinas, and restaurants. GEOGRAPHY West Wildwood is located at 39°0'1" North, 74°49'26" West (39.000209, -74.823945). According to the United States Census Bureau , the borough has a total area of 0.9 Km&2 (0.3 Mi&2 ). 0.7 km&2 (0.3 mi&2) of it is land and 0.2 km&2 (0.1 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 25.71% water. West Wildwood borders North Wildwood City , Wildwood City , and Middle Township . DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 448 people, 202 households, and 117 families residing in the borough. The Population Density was 665.3/km&2 (1,698.0/mi&2). There were 775 housing units at an average density of 1,150.9/km&2 (2,937.4/mi&2). The racial makeup of the borough was 95.76% White , 0.00% African American , 0.00% Native American , 0.22% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 2.23% from Other Races , and 1.79% from two or more races. 3.79% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 202 households out of which 20.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.0% were Married Couples living together, 9.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 41.6% were non-families. 36.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.22 and the average family size was 2.92. In the borough the population was spread out with 18.8% under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 23.7% from 25 to 44, 32.8% from 45 to 64, and 19.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 47 years. For every 100 females there were 93.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.6 males. The median income for a household in the borough was $33,393, and the median income for a family was $50,625. Males had a median income of $38,281 versus $21,190 for females. The Per Capita Income for the borough was $17,839. 6.5% of the population and 3.2% of families were below the Poverty Line . 13.4% of those under the age of 18 and 5.6% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line. GOVERNMENT Local government Members of the West Wildwood Borough Commission are Mayor Chris Fox, Commissioner Alan Christensen (Department of Public Works) and Commissioner Rita Maroldo (Department of Revenue and Finance). Federal, state and county representation West Wildwood is in the Second Congressional District and is part of New Jersey's 1st Legislative District. EDUCATION West Wildwood is a non-operating school district.
