The very need for the formation of such a separate university by disaffiliating medical colleges from the respective university faculties of medicine was and is looked upon by a section of the medical community as unnecessary.An undemocratic feature of the new university is that unlike the other universities ( University Of Calcutta , etc.), the highest decision making body of the University has a majority of Nominated members, hence making university decisions effectively a Rubberstamp of Government policies.
