West Bengal National University Of Juridical Sciences




The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, located in the Salt Lake City district of Kolkata , India , is a Law University imparting education in the judicial and legal sciences. It was established in 1999 by the Indian legal pioneer Dr. N. R. Madhava Menon .

Legal Studies at NUJS aim at a comprehensive learning experience, not only in traditional fields of legal education, but in contemporary disciplines as well. The course structure is in conformity with the rules prescribed by the Bar Council of India.

The B.A./B.Sc. LL.B.(Hons) Degree programme is the undergraduate course offered by NUJS. It is
undertaken directly after the Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent level. Admission is through an all-India National Admission Test (NAT).


COURSE STRUCTURE

The course requires successful completion of fifty papers over five years divided into ten semesters. Of these fifty papers, fourteen are optional seminar papers. NUJS has taken upon itself the task of relating legal knowledge and processes to the demands of scientific and technological progress. Thus it also offers the B.Sc, LL.B (Hons) Degree. Students who have successfully completed at least ten out of fourteen optional science-related seminar courses are eligible for the B.Sc. LLB. (Hons) degree instead of the BA, LL.B (Hons.) degree.

NUJS's record in moot courts has been good. The University has emerged victorious in the following competitions:
