Ir is run over 3200 meters, earlier it was two miles, a slightly longer distance. It is held in late January each year at Trentham racecourse just outside Wellington New Zealand . It is a very grueling race, and the world record is still held by the greatest ever winner of the 1970 Wellington Cup , namely Il Tempo , who it over two miles in 3.16.2 minutes. HISTORY |
