The program, '' Toronto Today '', was a bust and ratings were a disaster. It was cancelled after only eight months on the air. The majority of the staff was laid off. Chen was re-assigned as a reporter for the primetime magazine program '' Toronto Tonight '', as well as host of "The Source." Both shows were also cancelled. Chen was also a university roommate of singer-songwriter Jann Arden . NOTEWORTHY
