HISTORY The official weekday cartoon block probably started in the early 1990's when and Kids WB followed also. PBS have been airing weekday cartoons since 1990 . The popularity of the weekday cartoon lineup climbed by the mid 1990s FOX , UPN , WB and PBS and the some of the cable networks began airing cartoons on weekday mornings and weekday afternoons (not including Cartoon Network). Disney aired its weekday cartoon lineup called The Disney Afternoon . Decline By the 21st Century , weekday morning cartoons started to decline. While many weekday morning and afternoon cartoons are still aired on many of the cable networks many of the brodcast and some cable networks stopped airing their weekday line ups. In the early 21st century, Kids WB dropped its weekday morning lineup but kept its weekday afternoon lineup until January 6 , 2006 when it was discontinued due to complaints form local affiliates. In 1999, UPN launched Disney's One Too but that was phased out by the end of 2003 when the agreement between UPN and Disney fell apart. By 2004 , the weekday line up was religated to one show per day. The shows UPN aired were from DIC Entertainment but by 2005 , the network gave up its weekday cartoon line up and introduced the Daily Buzz a three hour news program. {Link without Title} In the late 90's the USA Network ended the USA Cartoon Express line up.
