GEOGRAPHY

According to the United States Census Bureau , the township has a total area of 86.8 Km&2 (33.5 Mi&2 ). 84.8 km&2 (32.7 mi&2) of it is land and 2.0 km&2 (0.8 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 2.27% water. The Rabbit River loops through the north of the township from the northeast to northwest corners. The southern portion is dotted with numerous small lakes. The extreme southeast corner touches on Gun Lake .


DEMOGRAPHICS

As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 3,013 people, 1,053 households, and 824 families residing in the township. The Population Density was 35.5/km&2 (92.0/mi&2). There were 1,169 housing units at an average density of 13.8/km&2 (35.7/mi&2). The racial makeup of the township was 96.45% White , 0.40% African American , 1.46% Native American , 0.30% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.80% from Other Races , and 0.60% from two or more races. 2.19% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 1,053 households out of which 41.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.3% were Married Couples living together, 6.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.7% were non-families. 16.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.83 and the average family size was 3.15.

In the township the population was spread out with 29.8% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 32.3% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 8.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 109.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.8 males.

The median income for a household in the township was $46,853, and the median income for a family was $49,675. Males had a median income of $38,381 versus $26,400 for females. The Per Capita Income for the township was $18,870. 2.8% of the population and 0.5% of families were below the Poverty Line . 0.5% of those under the age of 18 and 3.0% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
