This district, at the eastern edge of the Seattle metropolitan area, was considered Republican-leaning before 2004, and the popular former King County Sheriff was expected to win comfortably. Now-incumbent Dave Reichert (R) won it 52% to 46% in 2004. Former Microsoft executive Darcy Burner (D) is challenging him in 2006.
