Waltham is a town located in Addison County, Vermont . As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 479. GEOGRAPHY According to the United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 23.0 Km&2 (8.9 Mi&2 ). 22.6 km&2 (8.7 mi&2) of it is land and 0.4 km&2 (0.2 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 1.69% water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 479 people, 178 households, and 134 families residing in the town. The Population Density was 21.2/km&2 (54.9/mi&2). There were 197 housing units at an average density of 8.7/km&2 (22.6/mi&2). The racial makeup of the town was 98.75% White , 0.42% African American , 0.00% Native American , 0.63% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.21% from Other Races , and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.21% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 178 households out of which 37.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.3% were Married Couples living together, 6.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.7% were non-families. 20.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 3.10. In the town the population was spread out with 28.8% under the age of 18, 4.8% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 29.6% from 45 to 64, and 9.6% who were 65 years of age or older.
