Information AboutWalt Disney World College Program Roles |
|
Throughout the Walt Disney Company, there is a work philosophy that puts a Disney ideal into a terminology that is used in everyday speech. The idea is that everyone who is working for Disney, is part of a theatrical stage show. Every employee is a " Cast Member ", every uniform is a " Costume ", every customer is a " Guest " and every job is a " Role ". These terms are collectively referred to as " DisneySpeak " and are utilized quite frequently by Cast Members throughout the company. In the Theme Parks & Resorts division, Cast Members who work in locations where they may have direct contact with Guests work in " On Stage " roles. These would be the Cast Members who operate the attractions, park cars, sell merchandise, or work the front desk at a resort. The Cast Members who work in areas that have little to no interaction with Guests work in " Backstage " roles. This would be the office and technical, management, and executive levels. COLLEGE PROGRAM ROLES On the Walt Disney World College Program students are offered participation in one of many different roles. These roles are in locations with high demand for park operations, and often involve high guest contact, or high cast member contact. The following is a list of all the possible choices for College Program interns as of Spring 2006; All roles/positions may include prolonged exposure to outside elements including, heat/humidity, cold temperatures, and/or wet conditions.
For a more detailed list of intern positions and responsibilities see the Official WDW College Program webpage. CLARIFICATIONS For roles that state "Cast Members may assist other operating areas throughout the Walt Disney World Resort." this may be located in a seasonal location, like a Water Park , which may close during the winter for refurbishment. These locations will relocate Cast Members to similar positions in other year-round locations. For example, Lifeguard Cast Members may be relocated to a resort pool, or may be temporarily assigned to a different role. Hopper Cast Members are often positioned based on labor needs on a week by week, day by day, or hour by hour basis. Cast Members in Hopper roles may rotated to different work locations and/or performing a different base roles on any given day. If there is a strong labor need in a particular location, a Hopper Cast Member may only assigned to the one location/role. EXTERNAL LINKS
