Wainwright is a small .

Population: 5,365 (2005)

Town is located about 57 km south of Vermilion along Highway 41 , called the Buffalo Trail . Highway 14 also passes through this town. Wainwright is about 200 km east of Edmonton on Highway 14.

The railway is important to Wainwright. Wainwright is a divisional point on the CNR main line.

A common expression used by soldiers training at WATC is "Wainwright Goggles" used to describe how any girl will look beautiful after one sees a Wainwright girl.
