WIWB signed on the air on
February 22 ,
1984 , as WSCO-TV, airing religious programming. However, financial problems would force the station off the air by
1987 . In
1993 it returned to the air with home shopping programming. In
1998 , the station joined the
Pax network under the
Call Letters WPXG.
In 1999, Acme Communications purchased the station and added a primary
WB affiliation, changing the call letters to the current WIWB. The station continued to air Pax programming in the off-hours for several years, but does not do so currently.
On March 9, 2006, WIWB (Channel 14) was confirmed as Green Bay's
The CW Network affiliate beginning September 2006. Current
UPN affiliate
WACY (Channel 32) will switch to
NewsCorp 's
My Network TV programming service.
