Youth In Political Science




Youth in Political Science (YPS) is network of politically and/or humanitarian inclined High School students in Alberta , Canada . It seeks to spread youth participation in politics and humanitarian efforts, either domestically or internationally, by providing a forum of discussion for young people. It currently consists of two Calgarian high schools, and three clubs. Total members in these three clubs stand at about 60. Two of the clubs, the SWC Amnesty Int. Club and the Western Canada Amnesty Int. Club, focus on human rights issues around the world. The third club is the SWC Political Science Club, which focuses on political issues.


Activities


The YPS organizes many interschool activities, including fundraisers, debates, discussions, and field trips. The most recent YPS activity, the "YPS Walk for a Change" fundraiser, has earned support and recognition from Ralph Klein, the Premier of Alberta.
